Understanding the index theorems with massive fermions

چکیده
The index theorems relate the gauge field and metric on a manifold to solution of Dirac equation it. In standard approach, operator must be massless make chirality well defined. physics, however, theorem appears as consequence chiral anomaly, which is an explicit breaking symmetry. It then natural ask if we can understand in massive fermion system does not have this review, discuss how reformulate anomaly with operators, where find nontrivial mathematical relations between fermions. A special focus placed Atiyah–Patodi–Singer index, whose original formulation requires physicist-unfriendly boundary condition, while corresponding domain-wall reformulation not. provides understanding inflow bulk edge particle condensed matter physics.

NLO antenna subtraction with massive fermions
We present an extension of the antenna subtraction formalism at NLO to include massive final state fermions. The basic ingredients to the subtraction terms, the NLO massive final-final antenna functions are derived and integrated over the corresponding factorised phase space. Those antenna functions account for all soft, collinear and quasi-collinear limits of the QCD matrix elements involving ...
متن کاملSpinor techniques for massive fermions with arbitrary polarization
We present a new variant of the spinor techniques for calculating the amplitudes of processes involving massive fermions with arbitrary polarization. It is relatively simple and leads to basic spinor products. Our procedure is not more complex than CALCUL spinor techniques for massless fermions. We obtain spinor Chisholm identities for massive fermions. As an illustration, expressions are given...
متن کاملScattering amplitudes with massive fermions using BCFW recursion
We study the QCD scattering amplitudes for q̄q → gg and q̄q → ggg where q is a massive fermion. Using a particular choice of massive fermion spinor we are able to derive very compact expressions for the partial spin amplitudes for the 2 → 2 process. We then investigate the corresponding 2 → 3 amplitudes using the BCFW recursion technique. For the helicity conserving partial amplitudes we again de...
متن کاملCold and Dense Perturbative Yukawa Theory with Massive Fermions
Recent results for the two-loop thermodynamic potential of QCD at finite density have shown that nonzero quark mass corrections to the pressure are relevant and can dramatically affect the structure of compact stars. Motivated by these findings, we consider a simple toy model – cold and dense Yukawa theory – to study the effects of finite fermion masses on the pressure. The role of renormalizat...
متن کاملCounting Yang-Mills Dyons with Index Theorems
We count the supersymmetric bound states of many distinct BPS monopoles in N = 4 Yang-Mills theories and in pure N = 2 Yang-Mills theories. The novelty here is that we work in generic Coulombic vacua where more than one adjoint Higgs fields are turned on. The number of purely magnetic bound states is again found to be consistent with the electromagnetic duality of the N = 4 SU(n) theory, as exp...
